DM Comment

DM Comment sends a private message to people who comment on your posts. Use it for "comment LINK to get the link" campaigns, discount codes, or price lists you'd rather not post publicly.

Modes

Text

Every commenter gets the same message. {name} and {Hi|Hello} work here too.

Keyword

Pair keywords with messages. The commenter gets the message paired with the keyword found in their comment. Leave a keyword empty to set a default message, and turn on Exact Match to require the whole comment to equal the keyword.

AI

The AI writes the message, following your prompt. AI mode needs an AI provider. See Using AI.

Opening

Opening sends a short message with a button first, and sends your links only after the person taps it. Meta lets a business send just one message to a commenter until that person replies, and tapping the button counts as a reply. So Opening is the most reliable way to deliver links by DM.

An Opening flow has up to three messages:

MessageContainsSent when
First MessageText and one buttonRight after the person comments
Additional MessageText and one button (optional)The person taps the First Message button
Follow-up MessageText, an optional image, and up to 3 link buttonsThe person taps the last button before it

Turn off First Message to start with the Additional Message. Turn both off to send the Follow-up Message right away.

Prevent Before Follow (Instagram only): when it's on, the person has to follow your account before they get the Follow-up Message. Until they do, tapping the button sends the Additional Message again. Use its text to ask them to follow first.

Example flow for a "comment LINK" campaign:

  1. First Message: "Hi {name}! Tap below to get the link 👇" with the button "Send me the link".
  2. Additional Message with Prevent Before Follow on: "Follow us first, then tap again 🙏" with the button "I've followed".
  3. Follow-up Message: "Here you go!" with the link button "Open catalog" pointing to your catalog URL.

The Follow-up image can be up to 20 MB.

Options

  • Keyword Matching (Text, AI, and Opening modes): send the DM only when the comment contains one of your keywords, for example link or price. Turn on Exact Match to require the whole comment to equal the keyword.
  • Delay: wait 10 to 60 seconds before sending the DM.

Set it up

  1. Open the automation settings for an account or a post.
  2. Turn on DM Comment.
  3. Choose Text, Keyword, AI, or Opening, and fill in the messages.
  4. Optionally turn on Keyword Matching or Delay.
  5. Click Save.

Good to know

  • Pair DM Comment with Reply Comment, for example a public reply like "Check your DM, {name}! 📩", so other people see that you responded.
  • Every DM is logged in Report, and the conversation appears in Conversation.
